An EEK-o-friendly, healthy, green event! Stop in participating local businesses, churches and organizations on the Green Pumpkin Trail to participate in FREE kids’ activities and collect healthy, eek-o-friendly treats!
Costumes are optional. Suggested ages: 3-8
Green Pumpkin Trail Stops
Start the Green Pumpkin Trail at Grace Episcopal
924 Lake Street
- Pick up your Green Pumpkin Trail Map and Stamp Card. Collect stamps at the stops on the Green Pumpkin Trail and receive a special treat at the end back at Grace Episcopal.

- Limited Free parking in the church lot
Pumpkin Patch
- Purchase and decorate a pumpkin at the Wonder Works Children Museum booth at Westgate and Marion St.
GREEN HALLOWEEN® Costume Swap Event at Sugarcup Trading
110 N Marion Street 12–4 pm
Drop off costumes during store hours starting now through Oct 14. You will receive swap tokens on the day of the event that will be used to the obtain your “new to you” costumes. One complete costume equals one token. Share with others and bring as many used costumes as possible. Leftover costumes will be donated to a local charity.

- Kids costumes sizes 0-16 will be accepted. Sizes should be clearly marked.
- Costumes should be complete and must be clean, with no stains, rips or tears (unless part of the costume).
- Due to limited dressing areas, please dress kids ready for public try-ons.
- We request that hats and other head gear aren’t tried on.
Upcycle Activities at Calvary Memorial Church – 931 Lake Street
- Participate in upcycling activities such as jumping rope with recycled rags
- Give back to the community! Bring gently used coats, boots, and gloves to Calvary’s Emergency Clothes Closet (adult clothing only).
Green Halloween Storytimes: Costumes encouraged! Oak Park Public Library – 834 Lake Street
- 10:00 am: Silly and Spooky Stories
Celebrate Downtown Oak Park's "Green Halloween" with a spooktacular "Donuts with Dads" storytime. This special storytime is for ages 2 to 6 and features Halloween stories, songs and rhymes, as well as treats from Red Hen!
- 11:00 am: Baby's First Halloween
Grab your favorite lil' pumpkin for this interactive lap-sit session full of stories and songs perfect for even the tiniest trick-or-treater.For children from birth through 23 months.
Make your own recycled Trick-or-Treat bag at Holley Court Terrace – 1111 Ontario Street
- Decorate your own recycled canvas bag using eco-friendly paints & stamps! (While supplies last)
- Make your own “monster munch”
- To go “Witches Brew” for the adults
Design your own Prairie-style haunted house at the Unity Temple – 875 Lake St. 10-2pm
- Join the Unity Temple Restoration Foundation and Green Home Experts to design a Prairie-style haunted house using cardboard, Frank Lloyd Wright house stencils and decorating materials.
