  • Participate in Downtown Oak Park’s annual Cookie Walk! A $20 participation fee includes a souvenir cookie tin and a map of over 45 participating shops and restaurants to collect a cookie or candy at each stop. (Purchase at hospitality tent while supplies last.)
  • Catch a glimpse of Saint Nicholas on Marion Street, enjoy a variety of family-friendly acts and warm up inside the hospitality tent with free hot chocolate and coffee.

Free Holiday Parking

Free metered/surface parking (3 hours max) and free garage parking the Friday after Thanksgiving and every Saturday from November 28 through December 19.
Garage parking is always free on Sundays.
Metered/surface lot parking is always free on evenings after 6 p.m. and all day Sunday.

Hospitality tent located at Marion Street and Westgate

Catch the old-fashioned holiday spirit in Downtown Oak Park! Celebrate the season with free horse-drawn sleigh rides, a visit from Santa Claus, and a special showing of “Grinch” at Lake Theatre. All events and activities are free.

10 a.m. – “Grinch” at Lake Theatre, 1022 Lake St.
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Horse-drawn sleigh rides board at 106 Marion St in front of Muse.
noon – 3 p.m. – Hot cocoa at hospitality tent
noon – 2 p.m. – Holiday carols by Route 66 & Canterbury Carolers
noon – 3:00 p.m. – Santa Claus will be on Marion Street

  • Free holiday gift wrapping & complimentary valet parking
  • Seasonal food & drink specials in participating restaurants

3 non-profit organizations (one per each Thursday) will receive 5 percent of sales from participating businesses during the event.

Spot Parker the Elf in Downtown Oak Park! 

Parker the Elf will be helping busy shop owners during the holiday season — bring the family & help us find Elf to ensure his safe return back to the North Pole! He will be hiding along Downtown Oak Park building facades, store fronts… or is that him in the foliage?! He’s on the move every week! Follow us on Facebook for Elf updates.


Parker finds a new hiding place each Monday from December 1 through December 22. Each week we need your help finding him…


Each correct Elf spotting enters you for a chance to win the REWARD — a $100 Downtown Oak Park Gift Certificate.

Must physically enter Elf’s location weekly at the Visitor’s Center to be entered in the drawing. 4 entries maximum — 1 per week
