“The pandemic and Lake Street road closure had a huge impact on our business but with the support from the community, business is starting to pick up.”
What have you learned as a business owner over the last six months?
“I have learned about the importance of community and loyalty in a time like this. Without all of you, we would not be in business. We will continue to try our best to serve every one of our customers.”
How can the community help Poke Burrito thrive in the coming months?
“We would appreciate it if everyone would order online or by scanning our QR code when you come to the restaurant. We are also very excited to announce that Japanese Ramen is now available at Poke Burrito Oak Park!
If you didn’t own Poke Burrito, what would be your dream career?
“I love to create, design, craftworks, and learn more stuff every day.”
Favorite local spot to dine?
“Munch – I love their vegan burger & Khyber Pass – I love their lamb stew with rice.”
Favorite local spot to shop?
“Edible Arrangements is my go-to spot for fresh fruit baskets — they are great gifts for any occasion. Linda, the owner, is extremely nice!”
Favorite fun thing to do when you aren’t busy running your business?
“Running five Poke Burrito locations takes up most of my time. I spend any free time that I have with my family. It’s my favorite thing to do when i’m not running the business.”
Anything else you’d like the community to know about you?
“My name is Jimmy Chen and I’m a Chinese immigrant who came to the United States 23 years ago. I started Poke Burrito Oak Park 2 years ago because I love to create new and healthy dishes that benefit people. I will continue to work hard and do anything I can to benefit our community.”
