Here’s the exhibition catalogue of the sculptures on exhibit now.

1- Ray Katz –“Transformation #1” at Westgate St/Maple Ave
“The implied energy of the compositional structures has become a metaphor for an evolutionary process that I associate with human experience. Through the creative process, elements become symbols of the shared transcendental experience and the experiences of life’s journey.”

2-Salvador Jiménez-Flores – “Caminates” at Marion St/North Blvd
“The sculpture features a hybrid cactus-human form. Jiménez-Flores frequently utilizes the cactus to symbolize endurance, stating: “The cacti is a resilient plant that can survive extreme weather conditions. Metaphorically, I see these succulents as the hope for our future.”

3- Jay Smith – “Bust” at Marion St/North Blvd
Smith built “Bust” by refurbishing and updating an existing design specifically tailored to handle the spatial footprint and weather elements of a highly trafficked, downtown pedestrian walkway.

5- Daniel Eller – “DIBS” at Lake St/Marion St
The sculpture serves as a physical monument to Chicago’s unofficial, cold-weather neighborhood tradition. In the dead of winter, residents spend hours shoveling out street parking spaces and subsequently “claim” them by placing mismatched household objects—like lawn chairs, plastic cones, or crates—in the cleared spot.

6- Mathew Hoffman – “You Got This” in front of Lake Theatre
“No matter what kind of happens or gets thrown at you, you got this and you can handle it. Especially after this last year, you got this. You can handle anything.”

7- Paul Bobrowitz – “Heals Over Head” at Albion Apartments – Lake St/Forest Ave
“The end product… has very little to do with the first splashes… There is no beginning idea, and if there is in the end, it has been lost… From somewhere in my subconscious, the colors and shapes start to grab hold of me and say: ‘This is what we want to say.’ When the [artwork] has spoken, I give it a voice.”

8- Howard Russo – “Rocket with Light” at Lake St/Forest Ave.
“I like raw materials,” Russo observes. “Much of my work is with found objects, utilizing scrap metal. I like visualizing what art is hidden there and reworking it to be visually pleasing.”
Does he have a favorite medium? “It’s whatever I’m working in at the time,” he says.
