Meet Morgan: the manager of Ten Thousand Villages.

An Oak Park resident for 4 years and store manager for almost a year now, Morgan initially found herself drawn to Oak Park because it felt like the best of both worlds between the suburbs and city.

So, why Ten Thousand Villages? Ten Thousand Villages is a completely non-profit, fair-trade store with items from a variety of countries. They build relationships with and employ artisans who might not be able to get work in the countries they are from. Morgan’s favorite items sold at Ten Thousand Villages are the bicycle pizza cutter, the journals made from recycled paper (unlined so perfect for drawing or journaling!), and the big selection of jewelry.

When Morgan isn’t busy at work, she’s reading, shopping at The Book Table or Pumpkin Moon, going for walks, or biking. You might also find her shopping for the perfect addition to her growing collection of house plants.

The final thing Morgan wanted everyone to know is that Ten Thousand Villages would not be possible without their staff of volunteers. If anyone is looking to get involved by supporting a local non-profit, they are always looking for more people to join. (Plus, volunteers get a great discount!)
